Sophie Davis, founder of Outdoor Adventure Girls, said: “There’s a huge desire among women to step outside their comfort zones but what’s missing is the support to actually do it. When nearly 1 in 4 women don’t feel confident planning a trip alone, and so many lack friends to share those experiences with, it’s clear the adventure gap isn’t about interest - it’s about access. We’re here to bridge that gap, and remind women that they don’t have to go it alone.”
While the drive for adventure is strong, the research also shines a light on the everyday barriers that make the outdoors feel less accessible to women - especially those who don’t see themselves represented in traditional outdoor culture.
Our Vision, Mission & Commitment
Outdoor Adventure Girls is an outdoor community providing safe and inclusive environments for women to reconnect with nature, the outdoors and each other. We do this through our local meetups, weekend getaways and international trips. We have 100,000+ members across our social platforms, located all across the UK.
Sophie Davis set up the group following a sexual assault in her early 20s, where she spent years feeling isolated, scared, and alone. She wanted to show women that they have the confidence, resources, and support to get outside. Sophie has worked with the Ministry of Justice’s government campaign, It Still Matters. The campaign urges victims of sexual violence to seek support, no matter when it happened.
